Yes I do wish these had a manual tranny and yes I do wish this was a more raw car with less driver assists (GT3 is probably the better choice in that case)...

... but man that is one sweet ride. Love the look and it sounds like it drives extremely well.

Shame it doesn't. 99% aren't going to race it so a few milliseconds difference in shifting doesn't matter.

It would be awesome if Porsche made an RWD Turbo 911 (non GT2).

idk about that. it would be just like the GT2 and be known as a "widow maker" as well.

Where's the fun in it if it's not trying to kill you?

you must be way better at shifting than me.... milliseconds difference? the dual clutch shifts in milliseconds vs human clutch in, swap, clutch out... i would have to guess at least half a second a shift difference for the best manual shifting driver...

Regardless I think the point is there's something to be said about the driving experience and those who prefer to row their own gears vs. having a very fast paddle shift. As much as I like to pretend I'm race car driver material, I'm not and I'm not at the track every weekend... just like the majority of people who will buy these cars. I think it's more a competition between manufacturers and numbers/bragging rights sometimes... a lot of people still prefer a manual transmission.

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future, more true driving enthusiasts prefer PDK style transmissions than manuals. Similarly, there's some satisfaction to be had from tuning carburetors, and it really forges a connection between you and the car... but I suspect most driving enthusiasts prefer electronic fuel injection, even if they never flash the ECU.
