i own the new 2014 mazda6 and i love it. added front and rear sway bar and makes zooming around corners all the more fun. for those being skeptical about the high compression and running 87.... i've owned this car since march and have put nothing but 87 and am still getting 39.6 mpg doing 60% city driving and 40% highway driving. for tech to price ratio.. it tops all the others in its price range: a fully loded GT with Tech is running at 33,000 (that's with: regen brakes, lane departure warning, Mazda Radar Crusie Control, Forward Onlooking Warning, etc). the car is a beauty, mine is Jet Black Mica and after 6 months of owning her, i still look back when i walk away from her... i chose this car over the new accord/fusion because it was better in my eyes and i didnt have to see it every other block. hope this helps. i will post pics of mine later on. also to add in to that wind noise.. the issue with that was that the weatherstripping was coming loose. as such Mazda has a second gen weatherstripping that they install on all purchased 6 when brought in. i am also a member of mazda6club.

We bought the new 2013 CX5 shortly after it came out. It has a great looking interior/exterior, interior one some top award or something. Drives just as good as a civic in corners. That said we have had our issues--creaks, starting issues--nothing major yet, which is probably normal for a first release model. Would I buy another Mazda probably. Do I have more of a soft spot for Honda ---hmm Yes. My father in law owns a new 2013 Accord EX-L touring V6 , it sure goes like snot. I would say the interior on our CX5 is nicer though.

Handles like a civic. Is that a good thing?

good to hear! well not the defects but none the less. Good to hear that the tech is working as promised.

good reads

some issues with DI. this is part of what I'm talking about with 87 octane that uses ethanol blend. The lower combustion temps don't do any favors for cleaning carbon deposits.

Hopefully Mazda has worked out the kinks. Who knew that fuel washing down the valves was a good thing? The benefits of DI call for carefull attention in other supporting systems to keep the valves clean. Odd that some rely on mainly the tune to keep things clean. Just bothers me that it seems some systems weren't thought out very well at first. The thing about Audi's 4.2 liter is discerning. Maybe this is why the Toyota Fuel system in the TWINS has DI and regular, above valve injectors as well.

It's worth mentioning that even though the sticker on the pump says "contains up to 10% ethanol" its typical for the fuel you actually get to only contain 2-3%. This varies by region, but that's how it is.
