2012 STI - blaaaa... 330hp...

i think my evo got about 20mpg in mixed driving... you would think 9 years later they would make a freaking rocket instead of the same boring 13.4 Qtr mile time.....
this applies to either the Evo or the STI...... i guess throw the 370Z into that mix too..... a bunch of overweight, reasonably powered cars..... just think how quickly they could thin out the population with 450hp versions...
i just went to road and track today... sorry about the old article if it is old....

we need to be more realistic here..

Really? I mean who says a 3 cylinder turbo with the reliability of a civic and 400hp isn't realistic..?
On a more serious note, many cars haven't changed THAT much over the last 10+ yrs with the exception of domestic sports cars (this is more a testament to how far behind they were years ago though) and high dollar "sports" cars. Many of these high dollar cars are making big power with larger engines and/or (more) boost and the most important factor being they have the profit margins to continue to push the envelope.

The S2000 didn't change much over 10 years performance wise. A little bump in torque from a 2.0L to a 2.2L. All the regulations make it kind of hard for them to do a lot more. Other parts of the world get the Spec C and S206 models of the STi, which offer more power and performance.

Some key points of the article are increased mileage AND increased power. If the new STi is approaching the 30mpg mixed mark, I'd be very impressed. The best I can pull on my 04' STi is about 22mpg with mixed driving.

I had a completely empty tank on Friday Dis, and after filling up and doing the math, I had my best mpg to date @ 24 mpg!! I really don't know how I achieved that as I drive pretty spirited on the freeway and had a couple WOT pulls during this tank.

the UK has been getting the hopped up FQ specials of the Evo for a while now, no such love here. There was a mitsu dealer in NJ that partnered with Turbotrix for a while offering "dealer installed" performance packages, assuming there was some dealer warranty with that.
In other words, there's factory and dealer based opportunities for more juice, just got to cross the pond or pony up some $$ and sacrifice factory warranty to get it.
I doubt you'll see power and cost going up, I suspect they are hitting the ceiling in that regard ($40k for a Lancer? Any higher and that's BMW money). Mitsu made the right move with the lower power/price Ralliart turbo version to make the model more affordable to the masses and more direct competition the the WRX.

that may be why they stopped making them...hahahah..
with 662hp Mustangs rolling around surely subaru and mitsu can come up with a 450hp awd 3200lb monster for a reasonable price?

I never really saw over 19 combined with my evo 9; not when it was stock or tuned.
