I look at car upgrades this way. If they never improved it, no one would buy a new one. If it stayed with the same power output, chassis, and essentially same body for let's say 10 years everyone who wanted one would have one, and they would not sell enough to justify building them at all... Sound familiar?

Plus for those of us not wealthy enough to upgrade to the new Porsche every few years this means that in a few years when the 991 GT3 comes out it will put the current model to shame lowering the price allowing us mere mortals to consider buying one. I am just hoping that the new generations of Viper, Z06, and GT3 are good enough to make the older models such an embarrassing car to drive that no one but me will want them, thus putting them much closer to current C5 Z06 prices...

exactly!!! how is this any different than guys bagging on 1/4th mile times and bench racers and paper tigers.

the s2k wasnt the fastest car when i owned it, nor was it the fastest car when i bought it. but it looked good to me, and it drove well to me.

all this does is bring out peoples insecurities.

Porsche lets you specify whether you want the designation removed or changed. You can have Carrera, have only "911" no matter what model, delete all of it, etc. etc. It's totally up to you. And if I recall correctly, they don't even charge you extra to not have something.

If the rumors of a part-metal, part-canvas cab roof that maintains the coupe roofline better than past cabs are true, I'm hoping the cab is available by next spring. Anyone know the latest on the cab version?
