2009 Mazda6 Photos
Here are a few shots of the upcoming 2009 Mazda6. Looks great to me - very sporty, pretty swoopy, and should be nice to drive.
I see a bit of Lexus in there, especially the third picture.
Love this wagon - pretty sexy for a "family car".
Interior is fine, not stellar but not bad.
To me, the exterior is a grand slam. Way nicer than a Camry, brand new Accord, Altima, or anything else in the segment. Lots of curves, lots of little details, and a generally very upscale, pleasing look to it. Also note it comes with an optional six-speed manual for the drivers amongst us.
The interior is a bit of a disappointment. Functional but not groundbreaking, certainly not near the new Accord. However, it is more pleasant (to my eye) than the Altima or Camry interiors.
Mazda has historically not sold very many of these (less than 90K a year, apparently) in comparison to the other three but this could change that significantly.
Thoughts and comments?

Honestly, the profile looks like any other bland 4 door to me, albeit one with a lot of makeup on. It's a bland shape that's been all dolled up. It's not bad looking by any means, but not soul stirring either. The headlights are a little over the top for me.
I like the wagon though

Wow, that's much better. It looks a lot like the Ford Mondeo, nice job.

Is there another sedan that you think looks better in this segment? I think the Accord Coupe (new one) is more aggressive, especially the front 3/4 of the car, but this is a pretty nice looking car for a complete lineup.

I think Mazda did an excellent job with the styling. I own a 2005 6 V6 w/MT and have enjoyed everything about the car except its pathetic low-end (you think the s2K is bad? Try flooring a Mazda6 V6 at 2500 RPM...)
Hopefully Mazda beefs up the engine and keeps the remarkable handling (for a FWD sedan) characteristics and I think they'll have a real winner.

Nicest exterior design of any of the new family sedans in the $20-30k segment IMO.
