It's not bad but it still has a bit of that monotonistic, contrived voice I notice in just about all of Nissan's VQ motors. It's nice but they really should have Ford help them with the exhaust note. Short of an Aston Martin (was Ford) I'm not sure anyone really does it better from the factory. Well the Italian exotics but even a Mustang V8 gives then an aural run for the money. I would call it equal to the Corvette which honestly, I don't think sounds that great. When talking V8 exhaust calling it a Ford is a compliment.
Of course Youtube is hardly the best place to figure out what sounds best. In person I've never heard a VQ that sounded better than the V6 in the Contour SVT but I have never heard the GT-R in the flesh so that opinion might change.
Please note, this says nothing about which car is faster, cooler, handles better, looks better etc. I'm just talking about eye's closed sound only.

Ya it doesn't sound like much in the YT video. The second video link demonstrates it much better. Personally I think it sounds like it has more than 6 cylinders, and it sounds about as good as I expected.
As for Ford having the best V6 sound, I beg to differ. The Contour 2.5 V6 is no slouch, but there are so many other 6s that sound wondrous. The Ford 2.5 is kind of in the middle of the pack IMO. The most exotic-sounding 6 is the NSX's. Nissan's VQ I think is the most peculiar sounding 6, as it's not terribly deep, but that could be the exhaust systems they chose.
As for Ford's V8, it is one of the most impressively tuned sounds around, and is up there with any V8 from anyone. I have heard some systems put on them that make them sound worse than factory or a higher end system, so really an engine's best sound has a lot to do with the system producing the sound. But Ford's V8 sound is easily as good as a Ferrari V8's, but for different reasons.
