2009 Cadillac CTS-V Sets Nurburgring Record

could be the driver/weather/road conditions etc, but it was a full lap for the Evo IX, and it was done by best motoring.
Thanks for the link. The times that they list at the start of the N'ring lap are seem to be 10 to 20sec quicker than what SportAuto managed with the same cars. Not sure if BM drivers are better than Host Von Surma from SportAuto, but the SportAuto time for an EVO is at 8:25.
If you want to compare, then I suggest you use time as the M3/M5 times that I've quoted are by the same driver (and definately same track config). If you go by these, then there's significant advantage to the M5 and e90 M3 (though the M3 was on R-spec tyres) at N'ring. The e46M3 (on road tyres) was closer, but still quicker (~3sec).
ps. I can't read what tyres were on the car from that clip ... were they Yokohama Advan A046 or A048?

was the Evo tested by the same driver as the M cars equipped with AYC? that helps the cornering quite significantly according to what i've read...
i have no doubt the e9x/e60 Ms can lap the 'ring faster than the Evo given same driver/conditions. e46 should be a really close comparo

I still have the recent memory of my '05 CTS-V being lemon law'd fresh in my head. Considering how much heavier and more powerful this new CTS-V is compared to the '04-'07 model, I have my doubts that GM dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's on this one as well. Will the driveline in this iteration not vibrate my tooth fillings loose? Will the rear axle howl like a wolf at a full moon? Will the $400/ea tires last more than 7000 miles before being run down to the cords? Will it maintain more than 50% of its value after two years?
Actually, I know GM did make some improvements, such as the magnetic damping shocks and different diameter halfshafts designed to eliminate axle hop (which the previous car suffered from badly). If this car winds up being more reliable than the previous one, it could make a smoking used car buy in 3 years. But by that time, gas will be $6/gallon and let's face it; this car is going to get 13mpg on a good day.

Find the link to wikipedia's Nuremberg times, and it will explain that sport auto uses the FULL track, all 12.98 miles or whatnot while other tests use the 12.5 something mile loop.
