As an escape from Tom Petty at halftime... I predict 85% of the responses here will be for the coupe.
But I love convertibles, and the difference in performance would be worth it to have the top come down.
Price will be interesting.

Unfortunately, the glorious M-tuned V8 is bogged down by an extra 450 lbs. of folding metal and electric motors, but that's the price you pay (on top of what promises to be a heart-attack-inducing sticker price) for the option of taking in the sunshine and that delicious exhaust note without sacrificing the security of a tin top.

The last M3 carried a 300-400 lb. weight penalty in convertible form, and lost a lot of structural rigidity.
My answer to coupe or convertible is none of the above - I'd take the sedan.

but the CF roof is only offered in the coupe
But truly I don't care for any big heavy 2+2 verts. IMO the best is the lightweight 2-seat verts.

I just have a bad feeling about that cf roof - if it doesn't fade, I can just imagine jealous a-holes vandalizing it. I don't expect a significant performance difference between the coupe and sedan.

It look pretty damn hot in convertible form...but I'd go with the coupe. Something about luxury coupes - especially going out to dinner or driving to the other side of town is very relaxing and comfy, yet sexy and fast. And since I'd be keeping my S no matter what, there just would be no reason to have 2 convertibles (wait...I do live in Southern California though )
