Default 2008 Civic Si Sedan

We test drove a Fit Sport today and have decided that it is not the car that we need for a replacement car long term.

The Civic Si Sedan may make more sense for a car that we will be happy with for the long term as we "drive them until they drop". One of the questions that came up is the accessibility of the oil filter which one can not see from the top under the hood. I asked a service writer and he admitted that their "technicians" hate doing oil changes on this model. The oil filter requires removing a splash guard by the fender to get to it. This basic comment has been confirmed on Edmunds.com as being true. It is a "B*tch to get to the oil filter.

Does anyone have any experience of helpful hints on this subject?

P.S. I guess that I could start going to Jiffy Lube?

Is the jiffy lube thing sarcasm? I can't really tell. Other than that, I can't really give much input on this topic except say the Civic si sedan is a cool car.

It's a pain in the ass, confirmed. I just take my own oil/filter into the dealership and have them do it. They charge me like $15 to do it and I gladly pay for it as I want none of it on this car.

If you have access to a lift, you can get to it by reaching up through the suspension without taking off the wheelwell liner, but it's still a pain, and can get very messy.

I'd suggest going to 8thcivic.com and doing a search there...

Here's a video clip of someone doing an oil change. it's a coupe, but the process is pretty much the same.
