2008 BMW M3 ENGINE SPECS
So carandriver.com released the engine specs. "414 horsepower and a screaming 8300-rpm redline for M3's first-ever V-8"
If this car weighs anything near the last gen. this should make for a pretty nice ride.

Damn! What's the torque? The mirrors on that car look different (i.e. MUCH better) than in the other pics that I've seen. That's gonna be a phenomenal car. Too bad, however, that BMW isn't putting their fantasic engines (this M V8 and the M V10) in lighter, more elemental sports cars. If you want the motors, you gotta get an overly complex (electronics laden) and heavy GT car. They have the hardware to build some of the world's best sports cars (think REAL Porsche challengers) at realistic prices. Anyway, that M3 is still sweet as hell.

That pic makes me dig the coupe more. And, I REALLY like the M5 wheels...but the M3 should be sporting its own specific jewelry, as it's always been. Maybe there will be other M3-specific setups, but reusing the M5's, as good as they are, seems cheap for some reason.

well... im gonna take those numbers with a grain of salt... they said "engine produces 414 hp at 8300 rpm" ... id think peak HP is made "before" engine red line... BMW has always came out big... and 414 isnt that big... i was expecting around 430... based on the M5's jump and the difference between the E39 M5 and the E46 M3's...
we'll see... its great either way though... glad the motor weighs less than the I6...

thats just the US number though... the car made 286 and 321 HP in Europe...
I'm sure the E90/92 M3 will live up to most of its expectations. I think weight will be a continuing issue going forward, but I'll still want the car.
