actually.. make sure you REALLY DO post about your want for something like this down here...

VW imported the 337 after A LOT of people showed interest in it at vwvortex...
Wow, VWVortex was solely responsible for the 337 coming over?

That's impressive

This just in. In line with the recent VW trend, this R36 is going to weight like around 3,500 lbs.

Just kidding.
Wow, only 3500 lbs?

Do you think the old R32 was light?

Specs from Edmunds.com

I would consider one IF...

1) VW were any where reliable
2) If it wasnt so expensive for a VW
3) Loses around 400lbs or so

Theyre trying to stuff a more powerful engine in but yet they keep climbing in weight.

As a former R32 owner, I need to chime in here. The 4 motion in the R32 is not like in Audi unless you are talking about a TT. The R32 uses a Haldex Diff, which detects slip (15 deg) and then engages the all wheel drive. It does a good job, the car does not really feel like it is a front wheel drive car, even-though the majority of time it is the front wheels pulling it. The car handles nice although with a bit to much understeer and nice lift off oversteer (especially with the a stiffer rear sway). Another nice thing about the Haldex is that you get slightly less drivetrain loss, than traditional all wheel drive set ups. The car had better brakes (13.3) than my S2000, even with the additional weight and over 60% of it being up front!! (Have not done a track comparison). I have some concerns over the new car being heavier especially if they end up putting the 3.6l up front. I was able to make a little money on the sale of my .:R32 and I have not regretted my decision to buy an S2000. But the R32 was a real nice car.

I am really sick of all these "hot Hatch" is now a fat pig claims saying they strayed from their roots. You show me one car that is 25 years running that is even close to the same weight it was in the beginning. And Steve C what was the curb weight of a early 80's 911 vs. a current 911......don't say well they upped the porsche's horsepower and the performance is better, because the same is true for the GTI especially the R32. Personally i am not a big fan of the new body style, but i love the current R32, and i had a 337. I currently own a 99 MK3 VR6 as a daily driver, and i have a big for VW's. Mine were well cared for and very reliable. also fun to drive, i have owned atleast one of every generation, and at 300 HP for a 3.6 R36 just might continue the streak.....keeping the S2k of course....
