Just what we need on our roads, more soccer moms with ridiculously fast roadblockers. Nothing like a super quick, tippy, non-handling gas guzzler to make the morning commute fun.

I hope this car tanks hard (although I'm sure the reverse will happen and it'll sell like hotcakes).

Ummmm, what part of 28mpg did you not read? This things gets equivalent, if not better gas mileage as your gas guzzling S2000?

Yeah but do we REALLY need another fast SUV? Come on, at least with our speed we have good handling/brakes. This brick is just trouble waiting to happen in the hands of the typical inexperienced soccer mom or just as inexperienced, overly macho dipshit.

i work for yota, i have a pretty base limited 4cyl here and it retails for $25300. a loaded up one with leather and such will be like $28-29k.

the base msrp of the v6's is $26475 and that is w/o any options on it. only the msrp of the v6's has been released. since the vehicles haven't been released i don't know exact prices eventhough the option prices should be about the same as the 4cyl's.

these new rav's are great. if you don't get a 3rd row seat you get a shit load of cargo room and storage!

And you act like 90% of the Rav4 sales are going to be the v6 option. I say a good 80% will be the 4cyl option and the other 20 will be the v6 option.

I don't know why you guys keep insisting that EPA ratings are a joke. If driven non-aggressively, the EPA ratings are pretty accurate. ALL of the vehicles I've owned have gotten the same with EPA numbers. My S2000 averaged 24 mpg; Camry 29 mpg; Pilot 20 mpg; etc. When magazines test cars, they usually press them pretty hard, hence very lousy gas mileage.
I agree. When I drive, I can get pretty close to the EPA predicted mileage. I think the fact that people believe the EPA mileage is a joke because MOST Americans do not drive like they test it. Most Americans gun it, brake, gun it, brake, etc.

For Car and Driver, I think that's why they always get super low gas mileage; Testing quarter miles, 0-60, braking from 70, etc.

One quesiton though: why did Toyota design this to not be able to get a hybrid powertrain? The Highlander gets it.

I'll guarantee you that in the area I live (Metro NY), more than 80% will be the V6 option. I just think it would be nice for these manufacturers to make more CUV or station-wagon based vehicles instead of the SUVs. But I also realize they build what people want.

Oh well....I can only hope....

Well, here's some interesting mileage data from R&T's "Best Over-All Sports Car" test last year.

Car - EPA city/highway - R&T observed

Z4 3.0i - 21/29 - 18.2
Corvette Coupe - 18/28 - 12.9
Viper SRT-10 - 12/20 - 10.0
S2000 - 20/25 - 23.3
Elise - 26/38 - 19.2
SLK350 - 18/25 - 16.4
350Z 35th Anniv - 20/26 - 14.4
Boxster S - 19/26 - 15.4
911 S - 19/27 - 16.2

Except for the S2000 , all cars got worse milage than their EPA ratings. I was particularly suprised with the Elise, but mayby they just romped on it extra hard.
