What more do you want than weight savings in a sports car? Same power, same brakes, same basic suspension layout, but 200 lbs lighter and similarly priced? YES PLEASE.

Hmmm...but short of the weight savings, what advantage did the old CRX's have over the Civic hatches and Integras of the day (with the seats folded down)?
The CRX's were quicker, and shorter than the Civic's of their day and they were a blast to corner or dodge cones with. They were also easier to park. The biggest advantage was that they were simply more fun to drive.

But if the new Civic Si is lighter & quicker than the rest of Civics... wouldn't that be the "new CRX"?

If we do a lil photoshopping of the 2006 Civic Si concept as shown at Chicago; what do you guys think?
Awesome work! I love it.

Heck, I would say if they can keep it under 2500 lbs. and get 170 HP and 30 mpg or better, I'd be in.

I have wanted a 1991 CRX Si since back when I was a freshman in college. I still love them to this day.

I still own my 97 del Sol (VTEC) and would definitely grab something like this if Honda were to make it.

Time will tell...

I guess it could be the new CRX but in my biased opinion a new CRX should be a smaller two seat version of the Civic. How would you feel about Honda having a "new S2000" that's bigger and has a back seat? Somehow it just wouldn't be the same.

The Civic Si 2006 is a sweet concept ;but we all know AHM will "water" the thing down for the masses and/or offer a Type-R in Japan with 30 more Hp;Brembo brakes ,Recaro seats and an LSD.

There inlies the issue;we here know the USDM will get the halfassed version as usual

If the 06 Si come thru as the concept it would be on the short list to replace my 00 Civic EX

Here's a crazy thought I got from thinking about the CRX...Besides the S2000, Honda's only other 2-seater is the Insight.

Wait stop laughing

It's got a curb weight of just 1850 pounds, starts under $20k (so off-warranty, 2000 models are selling around $10k in Auto Trader), and (one would presume) rock-solid Honda internals. Is there any chance we'll see ricers turning Insights into rolling defecations any time soon?

i think i've heard of insights being donors for engine swaps. i dunno if a regular honda engine would just bolt up since it's a hybrid, but it would be a perfect candidate. good aero and light weight make for a good drag car.
