wow. move this thread into s2000 talk lol. it seems as if its mostly comments about the s2000. and as for the 2007 350Z, im thinking what they did was just put new cams, intake, and a higher flowing exhaust in and market it as a newer model. track edition Z anyone?

^ Im just messing with him. I have driven them and they are pretty nice, when I got on it my expectations were low so it impressed me. When cornering hard you can tell the weight it carries affects it. I saw a post of someone saying whats so bad about it when the S2000 is 28xxx punds but remember the S2000 is a convertible and by that they are heavier in order to make the chassis more rigid due to the lack of a roof, still being a convertible its more agile and lighter than a Z.

Btw, when Car and Driver did the review that had an s2000 against a Z, Z came out on top and it did beat the S2000 on the road course, not bad for an oink oink crap car huh?

Still, I love my S2000 and I did choose it over the 350Z (and I'm a Nissan fan at heart).

This is the kind of crap that bored car mags come up with that makes me laugh. They slap a hardtop on the S and compare it to a few coupes. I prefer this article a little better:

Anyway. Back to the 350Z, because we all know that if someone were to post a thread titled "2007 Honda S2000" over in the Z forums, there'd be absolutely no mention of the 350Z anywhere in it, right?
It's obvious that the 287hp Z is not showing anywhere near the full potential of that 3.5L V6. I'm sure it's not too hard for Nissan to tweak alittle here and there to get another 25hp crank ponies out of it. Some cam work, as mentioned before, and a little ECU tuning is probably all it takes.

No and becuase you slap a hardtop on a convertible does not make all the weight of the reinforcement that came from factory disappear, the S2000 is a convertible and it was engineered as one. Some people are just dee dee dee. If Honda is to produce a hardtop version of the S2000 it would be lighter then that would be the right comparison to the coupe Z, now how much does a vert Z weight? ok now thats the right comparison for the S2000.

using autocrossing as a reason why a car is great or crap is bunk, that's a very one dimensional way of evaluating.

I think "if" is a very telling word; example, you say:
If Honda is to produce a hardtop version of the S2000 it would be lighter...
So your point is moot.
I don't think the vert Z versus an S2000 is a fair comparison. I think a fair comparison is a vert S2000 (what is was designed to be) versus a hardtop 350Z (what it was designed to be) is a fair comparison. I would take more pride in the fact that the S2000 can post comparable numbers to those of a 350Z coupe...rather than being able to edge out a vert Z.

^ If they wouldn't make the 350Z conv. then you are right but sadly they do make it and its heavier. Don't get mad, get glad. I'm still glad that the S2000 can post numbers above and close to those of the 350Z while the 350Z being a coupe. The 350Z = GT the S2000 = Sports car.
