2006 Z4M or 370z?
hey everyone,
So I've come across a Z4M in the area and I've always wanted one, the problem is I really wanna test drive a 370 before I pull the trigger and Nissan dealerships in Canada won't be getting them for another 2-3 months apparently.
My time behind the wheel of the z4m was limited but i loved it. On the other hand, I read and hear nothing but praise about the 370. So I'm a bit torn.
What do you guys think about the Z4M?

Depends on my budget, if I wanted to spend the extra relative maint. cost on the z4m or not.
Overall I would much rather have a z4m, if anything at least you wont see it on every street corner and see kids that just got their license racing them around, JMO.

I haven't driven a Z4M, but when I was test-driving cars I thought that the e46 M3 was more fun to drive than the 370Z. I can only imagine that its smaller sibling with the same motor would be just as good if not better

Its so crazy how the performance specs on these cars are quite similar. I think the Z4M Coupe just looks better.
370Z > Z4M Conv
Z4M > 370Zcoupe
I never see these cars anywhere. Such poor marketing I guess. A new Z4 Coupe just got the green light so I guess they're gonna give it another stab. BMW is planning on bumping the Z4 up the hierarchy(Z2 is comin!)
The Z4coupe looks chiselled where as the Z still looks fat in comparison.

Wow, for once a comparison thread where I've actually driven both cars!
The 370Z actually drives surprisingly similarly to the Z4M in my opinion -- similar power delivery, handling feel, clutch/shifter feel, etc. I found both to be a bit "heavy handed", with heavy clutches, chunky shift action, and somewhat heavy feel in corners, but both have tons of grunt and great power delivery. By comparison the S2000 or Cayman have a very light, refined (but somewhat high strung) feel in all of those ways.
But, I'm off-topic. I think the biggest differences you're going to find are non-performance areas. In the BMW, the whole impression is much more refined, "adult" if you'll excuse the term. It is a luxury brand, and it feels like it.
If you're only trying to figure out which one will be more fun to drive, the Z is an incredible value and I don't think gives much if anything up to the Z4M. If you want to look beyond that, I'd really recommend at least sitting in both.

I just saw a 370z in traffic a few minutes ago. It looked a lot less "toy like" in person, but it still had a boy racer feel to it. The z4m coupe looks much more grown up.
Kind of like the difference between a mustang and an sl500. (only in terms of relative "maturity")
