[QUOTE=Barry in Wyoming,Oct 18 2005, 05:34 PM] Six months or a year ago I saw a poster at my local Honda shop saying American Honda was committed to safety including side curtain air bags as standard equipment in all American Honda cars by the end of 2006 (model year 2007!).

The rumors I've heard are that the '06 is the last year for the existing RSX, and in '07 or '08 when the new JDM/Euro Accord / TSX comes out, it will have a coupe version that will be the "replacement" for the RSX. It will be based on the Accord global platform, which means it should get a double wishbone suspension instead of the current RSX (and the new Civic)'s McPherson struts in the front and wishbone suspension in the rear.

A convertible version of the new TSX is rumored as well...
new TSX in '07 or '08? Um, probably not. That model was introduced as a MY 2004 and has been selling very well. How long has the last generation civic been around? Honda doesn't mess with a winning formula. I'd buy the idea of them making a an acura coupe off the euro accord, but If anything the TSX/euro accord will only be getting it's first significant facelift by 07, not an entirely new model.

It's the same reason I dislike the Evo... I don't want my performance car based on something you can buy for $13k.
But would your argument include the Integra Type R? Or a Civic Type R for that matter? Why does it matter that any given performance car is based on a shared platform with a less expensive version? How does it make it less enjoyable to drive? Just wondering.

I am not sure about the side curtain airbag argument for the RSX. I read somewhere also before that the side curtain airbags were purposely being left out of the nsx and s2000, though I dont know if that would be a basis for discontinuing them.
