I believe V6 has 245... and the V8 holds at 300 but rumors are that they will upgrade to a 3.5L V6 and a 4.6L V8 in a year or 2.

Does anyone know why Toyota plan to put a 3.5 in the Avalon and only the 3.0 V-6 in the GS? Wouldn't it be cheaper to try to fit the 3.5, with more power, in the new GS? I don't see this 3.0L used in anyother car in the Toyota line-up, do you?

Saw it at the LA autoshow, no matter how much technology it has it is disappointing. I love the current Lexus GS series (even though it is a bit long in tooth), the new car is not attractive at all. Unfortunately.

The GS300 has an I6. Also, if they used the new 3.5 V6 (which makes like 280hp), the GS430 would be almost pointless given its current power offering over the 3.0 I6 in the GS300.

The Avalon for some buyers is a cheap GS (since it is the same platform). The IS is the only other car that uses the 3.0 I6.

I can't understand. In other markets they offer will GS350 straight off. I suppose it's b/c the V8 only has 300hp so they don't want to offer a 270-280hp V6 that's 95% of the hp of the V8.

I'm 99% going to be buying a mid-size awd near-luxury car in the next 2 years to replace my Passat. While I was mad the 3.5L will not be offered at first, it will work out for me if in 18-24 months the 3.5L is offered.

I was a fan of the RL, but seeing the M35/45 and now the GS, the Acura will have a tough road ahead with it's price and it's weight working against it. Also the lack of V8, lack of rwd, lack of 6-speed tranny, and bland style also aganist the RL.

Do they really have the same platform? I'm just wondering cuz one is FWD and one is RWD.
