Does anyone know why Toyota plan to put a 3.5 in the Avalon and only the 3.0 V-6 in the GS? Wouldn't it be cheaper to try to fit the 3.5, with more power, in the new GS? I don't see this 3.0L used in anyother car in the Toyota line-up, do you?

Saw it at the LA autoshow, no matter how much technology it has it is disappointing. I love the current Lexus GS series (even though it is a bit long in tooth), the new car is not attractive at all. Unfortunately.

The Avalon for some buyers is a cheap GS (since it is the same platform). The IS is the only other car that uses the 3.0 I6.

I'm 99% going to be buying a mid-size awd near-luxury car in the next 2 years to replace my Passat. While I was mad the 3.5L will not be offered at first, it will work out for me if in 18-24 months the 3.5L is offered.
I was a fan of the RL, but seeing the M35/45 and now the GS, the Acura will have a tough road ahead with it's price and it's weight working against it. Also the lack of V8, lack of rwd, lack of 6-speed tranny, and bland style also aganist the RL.

Where are those smilies with the "This thread is useless without pics" signs.
