2006 Lancer Evo IX MR or 2007 Sti Limited
#11
I currently own an 04 STi, but was also tempted by the EVO at first. I read a lot about reliability and from what I could tell Subaru was better and honored their warranties (even on some modded cars). Mitsubishi is quick to void warranties. But as another poster said it is mostly anecdotal and whichever car you choose can be very reliable.
I also didn't like the lag in the EVO. I know MIVEC supposedly solved that so it isnt as much of an issue, but the grunt down low in the STi is great for everyday driving. The short gearing in the STi can be a pita though.
One thing you may want to read up on before deciding is the reviews of the STi Limited. Over on iWSTI.com they are saying the suspension has been made too soft on the limited and the engine isn't pulling as hard. Again just anecdotal, but this is what they're saying.
Good luck with your purchase...both awesome cars.

I picked up a new Evo9 SE with the Buschur Racing BR350 package and could not be happier. Buy the Evo9 SE and put 1,200 bucks into the warrtlon/buschur package and you WILL have 330awhp. Its crazy fast!
EVO!!!
EVO!!!
Is this a dealer option? Does it void your warranty? Some more info will be really appreciated. Where can I get this kit? I couldn't find the IX SE in the Mitsu site... Im a little lost now.
Thanx for the replies guys.

The warranty issues is like any other car you modify, if the part in question was damaged as a result of the mod then no warranty on that specific part. No auto warranty from any manufacturer covers abuse; you have to pay to play. The Evo will be as reliable as the driver wants to make it.
Below is a link with the description of the BR kits, its says Evo8 but they do the same to the 9. cost for the BR350 kit is ($3,300) 300awhp (stock cat)

Stock or lightly modded you cant go wrong with either one. However, if you intend to do more than a turbo back and boost controller you better go with the evo. You can get more horsepower with less money with the Evo.

After heavy negotiations in both ends of the dealers and further reasearch tonight Im going to sleep with the STI in mind. They want a little to much, suddenly there is a $3200 difference for the Evo SE. Lets see what can they work out for me tomorrow morning.

I got evo, because I love s2000 handling and the evo is closer in that department than sti. I'm surprised to see s2000 owners to complain about lag in the evo. I thought we are supposed to be the crowd that know revving better.
