Still isn't a CTS-V or M5 killer.
Having said that, why don't you think the car will play in the same league as the CTS-V and M5? If the 400 hp figure is accurate (I'll grant that that figure deserves a fair share of skepticism), the IS430 will definitely post performance numbers comparable to the two others.

This won't be on the current chassis/gen IS will it? The design is pretty old. Didn't the IS/Altezza come out in japan in like 1997? Its do for an update.
400hp does sound iffy from toyota since they seem to be very conservative and still dominate the market.

Yeah, Toyota wont make it with 400hp. More like 330hp.

It'll be tough for the IS430 to beat up on the E90 M3... it'll be one of the cars I look at come 2005-2006
BPU-Killr ? did Steve Millen's IS430 have 1/4 mile or 0-60 times ?

I agree.. the new IS is one car that I'm definitely keeping an eye on. If the Acura TL was rwd, I'd take it in an instant... but I like the current IS, just not enough to buy it. Kinda small if I'm looking for a sedan, and underpowered. If Lexus makes the new IS slightly larger, and with a big boost in the engine department, I'm in.

I love everything about the current IS, the looks, the handling, the praticallity, the ONLY thing I am not enamered with is the power. Now you drop a V8 in this car, making north of 300 horses with a very flat torque curve and only add about 100lbs to the curb weight and I will be a VERY happy camper.
