Which one would you pick & why?

Time to help the parents find a new ride. I can find find a fully loaded S60 w/ all the packages for about the same price as the TL. Both have basically the same safety systems, sound system, etc.

270 hp on the Acura vs. 208 hp on the Volvo is kinda a no-brainer for me, but it''s not my car. Performance is really not an issue as Mom won't be tearing up the track (unless she isn't telling me something).

Anyway, if you had to pick......what would it be and why?

I think, between the two, the TL is the clear choice. I just don't see much compelling about the Volvo. Their 5-cyl engine is ancient, and it was never that great to begin with. I think the TL would have a significant edge in all performance categories, and I also like the TL's styling better inside and out. The TL's quality and reliability would also likely have an edge over the Volvo's. Sounds like you are looking for a FWD car in the low to mid $30's, right? If you are specifically looking for FWD, then I think the TL is absolutely your best bet.

I'd take the TL, but the S60 probably has a better ride and may be more 'mom' friendly.

i have a s70 t5, the volvo would be a great car, comfy, fast enough, practical, and good looking. i would take the TL for performance and perhaps quality issues, but not price and value, the volvo would be a better car.

although the GLT (light pressure turbo) is less of a performance oriented car it does have more interior room, a killer a/c heater, and the best seats for those tired backs.
it is also safer and has a larger trunk and maybe more interior room.

my volvo has been like an acura to keep up...but i can't say that for my first volvo, which was a real lemon, so it is hit or miss, whereas the acura would be mechanical perfection.

i would imagine the prices are soft on volvos now and the acura would be msrp or walk.
