2004 NSX Info.
Hey guys:
Does anybody have info. on the next gen NSX. I keep hearing that is will have 300+hp 3.5L V-6 with 100hp Electric motor(from the dualnote concept). That means 400+hp for 3000lbs(i'm guessing on the weight)- and a cost of $60k. Others(MT, CD, NSXprime) have speculated 4.0L V-8 400+ Hp- for $90K+.
I can't wait.

I do'nt think there is any solid information out there for the 2004 NSX, and I keep a pretty good watch on car info. Strong vote is against the V8 though, as Acura is not moving forward with a V8 RL, instead they are upping to a 3.8L rumored for the next RL and the MDX. So don't look for Honda to build a V8 anytime soon. Unless they plan to move the NSX even further up in price than it is now. I have also heard of the Dualnote concept engine idea. And that goes with the larger V6 idea, and Honda would just have to make sure that the transitions between gas and electric power are seamless.

I think it's wishful thinking on the $60K option... My guess is over $100K delivered.
Of course there is a *big* hole between a $30K S2000 and a potential $100K NSX, territory that 911's play in, and maybe Honda will decide to take on the 911 vs. the 360...

I feel that Honda needs to learn a lesson from Nissan. When Nissan first launched the Z, the made sure that it was a good sports car at a great price. It was cheaper, and in many ways better than the 'vette. They repeated the same philosophy this year with a 350Z. Honda already proved to us that it can make a GREAT roadster for $32k , how about a Great sports car for twice the money- $65K?

As much as I would love to see and drive a Honda V8 in the NSX, I think it'll have the V6 with the dual electric motors driving the front wheels. Honda is about innovation and new technology (that's what the original NSX was about), not just blowing the competition away in straight-up performance. That said, I think that an AWD hybrid powerplant in the NSX will be very competitive AND efficient, not to mention unique. My preference is the V8 but I'm betting on the hybrid platform.

I find it "ridiculous" because their is no race heritage with the NSX as there is with the 911.
But looking at the construction of the NSX and after driving the Alex Zanardi Edition it's much easier to "see where your $95k went".
