2002-2003 C5 Z06
Ive been doing research on 2002-2003 chevy corvette z06s and what im reading is incredible and it reminds me of the s2000 niche community. Has anyone heard anything besides good things about these cars? it'd be amazing to drive a 405hp 400tq car that still handeles! and dont just say "its a chevy it sucks," if you dont like em' great but tell me why!

Have you driven one? I know they are fast, but for me they don't inspire much confidence. Something about the shifter, steering feel and size (yes i know its light(ish)).
I just can never get comfortable in vetts.

havn't driven one yet, i am sure the shifting isn't as crisp as s2k and ive heard its longer throws. im hoping the mass torque makes up for it... i may end up back in an s2k, and you never know but i feel like a vette is something i should try

The C5 z06 IMHO is the best bang for the buck car you can get in the last 10 years. 3100 lbs 405 hp, great looks, awesome handling, and good mpg. The used market on them can get you a decent one for 22-25k with low mileage. The "older" crowd does take care of the cars and a lot of them are being dumped for either a C6z or in preparation for a C7.
The next best bang for the buck is an 08 LS3 C6 (which is what I have). They are faster than the C5z have more potential to make more power. It handles very well but maybe not as well as a C5z, but is more comfortable and is smaller and has HIDs
Either way you can't go wrong with a vette and everyone should own one once. They are't as special as the S2000 but are fun and very fast out of the box.

I didn't like driving any Corvette before the C6 - I think in that version Chevy finally corrected the seating position and you got a better sense of the dimension of the car.
People love the C5 Z06 but it's not for me. Bad seating position, views out, and shifting quality.
I'd eyeball a C6 GS though.

There's a reason it was on my shopping list pre-S2k, and a reason why it didn't make it.

Probably the best performance car u can get sub 20k these days if u demand above par speed. e46 m3s follow close behind but cost even more to track. I dont think any vette view is very good though if u are used to hondas or porsche. A c6z and GS have a really wide feel though. I much prefer the view and seat position of a Nissan Gtr!
I think I am going to save up for a cayman S.
