I hear the M Coupes are extremely fast and fun. If I was in a market for a BMW I would not turn it down if I found one for the right price. I'd probably take that car over any other BMW at this point.
If you do some research I think you'll find that those cars are extremely exceptional.

As a long-time BMW guy, I would say, DEFINITELY go for an M Coupe. They are awesome cars - VERY torquey, and a distinctive car on the road. You'll love it.
I guess you feel the torque more in the M Coupe because the driver sits right on the rear wheels and the fact that it's about 300 pounds lighter?
arghhh I'm going crazy LOL

So you guys would take the 2001 M Coupe before a 1991 NSX?

The M Coupe has a great engine, no question. Where it compares less favorably with the NSX is handling. The M Coupe has the ancient semi-trailing arm rear supsension that originally debuted in the 80's 3-series.

I have yet to understand what the semi-trailing arm in the M Coupe does to hamper its performance on a track.

The M Coupe is nowhere near as composed over bumpy roads, especially bumps mid-corner. Pacific Raceways is where I have the most track time, and the surface is pretty rough. On such a track, the NSX is much more composed and confidence inspiring.

So I test drove a 2006 M Roadster today...and....wow....
That thing PULLS HARD from 4000RPM all the way to 8000RPM in EVERY gear! God I love that engine in such a small car...

I think I'm going to go ahead with the M Coupe, the NSX I was looking at has a history of electrical fire in close to the engine bay...not a good sign...
