it be great if they put some kind of sequential gearbox found in the BMW's in the new EVO X's. 5kRPM launch w/ awd and boost FTW

What does a double clutch gearbox do exactly?

Each clutch has different gears. One has 1, 3, and 5. The other has 2, 4, and 6. Upshift or downshift from 3rd, 2 or 4 will be ready for you quickly. Downshift from 5th to 3rd has a slower response time, however, because of the nature of 2 clutches.

And it'll still break like all Mitsu trannies (despite being made by companies like Getrag and Kormex), lol. Nah, just being spiteful, quite cool technology, hopefully it works out but don't you think they're treading into outside territory?

my 2003 evo VIII took 22k abusive miles from me without breaking anything.

I probably lauched it at 6000rpm or higher 40-50 times (auto-x starts, drag racing at the strip, street racing, etc.....)...and finally burned out the clutch at 17k miles.....

People sure like to bitch about stuff that isn't all that valid. I would guess 2% of the Evo owners had problems and made 95% of the noise about it.

My break in period was 200 miles... got a 13.4 in the Qtr mile at 500miles....my first set of tires lasted under 5k miles (road course abuse)..... i had a hose pop off under the hood, and a 02 sensor fail.... my only mechanical problems in 2.5 years and 22k miles.....

I seriously hate the look of the Evo X. In pictures, to me it looks like an SUV or something. I guess maybe it would look better in person

I'm glad for you, I just remember my days of living in fear when I had my Talon, granted the EVO trannies are different, but back then the differences were in the ratios (I believe) and not the materials and durability. Most DSM owners had problems with their trannies as did 3si owners (even those who just drove normally, and these are sports cars so you will drive it spiritedly at times) but I'm sure, or at least hope that Mitsu has it all sorted out, it's just that reputation is hard to live down.
