well, if you're towing enough to snap 5 lugs, I think it's time for a different vehicle
semi-trucks have like 16-20 per wheel... whatever makes you feel safe.
(+ you get 2300 ft/lbs of torque)

I need a new truck, how has your Titan held up so far. Titan and Tundra are on my short list.

I my Titan! I'm up to about 27,000 miles in just under two years. I has several nagging little oil leaks when it was new from the tranny and transfer case, but in hindsight, I'm not sure how much was factory not getting bolts to proper torque or just plain crap service at my dealer, bottom like is I'm not getting work done at the 1st dealership and I'm also not having any problems.
I have taken several very long trips with it and it continues to please me, both in the summer and in the winter snow. I will say this, the OEM tires are crap, I had to replace them at only 22,000 miles. I did have a battery die, but again, like tires that's not Nissan's fault as they don't make them. If for some reason I had to buy another truck tomorrow I woul just go directly to the Nissan dealer. I honestly am not warming up to the look of the Tundra, especially that screwed up interior, and when I saw the price tag I was overcome with WTF???

^^^ Yeah the Toyota's are expensive, however i have had 4 of em
and never had to put a wrench on one of em, except for maintainance. I also have had one Nissan 4x4 and it was flawless too. I guess i'll take the best deal i can get.

I understand the loyalty thing too... The Titan is my 3rd Nissan pickup, because I had such great luck with my two Hardbodies I just had to get a Titan. Of course the new Tundra was not out in '05 when I had to buy, but still, I have to confess, price was indeed a big part of my decision and I got a great deal on the Titan when you figure in the below MSRP price and then added to it $2,500 rebate incentive from Nissan.
Good luck shopping. Have some fun, go test them all!

Five is not so good in some scenarios maybe. Last weekend I rented a Bobcat on a tandem axle trailer. They counted my lugnuts (6) and their rule was they can't let a customer tow it if they don't have at least 6 lugnuts. Toyota may have done their engineering well, but that wouldn't have made any difference here. Rules are rules.
