Toyota's new Tundra is taking direct aim at Ford, Dodge and GM full size trucks. Engine wise it has:

4.0-liter DOHC EFI V6, 24-valve aluminum block with aluminum alloy head with VVT-i
236 hp @ 5200 rpm
266 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm
Bore and stroke: 3.70 x 3.74
Compression ratio: 10.0:1
Displacement: 3956 cc
Ignition system: DIS (Direct)
Emissions: ULEV II
Recommended fuel: 87 octane or higher

4.7-liter DOHC EFI V8, 32-valve aluminum block with aluminum alloy head with VVT-i
271 hp @ 5400 rpm
313 lb.-ft. @ 3400 rpm
Bore and stroke: 3.70 x 3.31
Compression ratio: 10.0:1
Displacement: 4664 cc
Ignition system: DIS (Direct)
Emissions: ULEV II
Recommended fuel: 87 octane or higher

5.7-liter DOHC EFI V8, 32-valve aluminum block with aluminum alloy head with Dual VVT-i
381 hp @ 5600 rpm
401 lb.-ft. @ 3600 rpm
Bore and stroke: 3.70 x 4.02
Compression ratio: 10.2:1
Displacement: 5663 cc
Ignition system: DIS (Direct)
Emissions: ULEV II
Recommended fuel: 87 octane or higher

Haha! That's great! The front even has Asian eyes. Looks like a Transformer on steroids! Wonder how it'll fare.

When will they put that 5.7L engine in a coupe! (I'm half-joking, it probably weighs a ton)

Holy crap! I looked at the website. That is very well thought out. It's an interactive television commercial Very well done and even takes a little shot at the competition by highway passing while towing a boat.

they should have done a full crew cab, not the dodge style add on area

I'm lookin at these or a the new ford 2008 turbo diesel for a tow/weekender

That's the one thing this truck is missing, a diesel option.

Anyways, well it definitely lost any vestige of its more feminine-looking 1st-gen shape. And they FINALLY got the idea and went true full-size. The engines seem to be about right. No diesel will still hold tem back though. I would guess a diesel will come in a year or two, but the Big 3 sell SOO many trucks because of the diesel option...
