Thanks for everyone's input! Went and looked at 2 mdx last night. Wife really likes them and I think it suits her style and personality better than the x5. If they weren't so evenly matched, we would've pulled the trigger last night. Both have the entertainment package, but 1 is the sport model w/ 12k more miles, running board, and clear bra...

The money we'll be saving from the x5 warranty and maintenence will allow me to finish the S sooner as well. Pending unforeseen issues w/ them, we'll try to finalize the purchase this evening.

I’ve done a bit of research on the MDX as a possible next car for my wife. I’ve seen a number of owner reviews of the Sport version where the magnetic struts have needed replacement at relatively low miles (out of warranty). The struts are expensive.

I wish we could get away with a smaller SUV, I’d like an RDX. Reviews seem consistent; if you are into cars you will love it, if you want a soft smooth ride then you’ll hate it.

+1 to the struts needing replacement. The Sport handles better but will definitely cost you a bit more in maintenance repairs.

Thanks for the heads up! Ended up getting the tech w/o the sport pkg due to some of the concerns being brought up.

Finally picked it up tonight and snapped a couple of shots before losing daylight. Will snap some shots of the inside this weekend. Got sport running boards and all weather mats on the way... w00t!

congrats. You won't regret choosing the MDX. i got a 2012 MDX tech myself. Its AMAZING in the snow. There are anywhere from 2-4 recalls on that model year depending on the vin. Go check with you local dealer to get them done. One is a p/s recall where acura will replace the pump, ONLY if YOU say/complain that the steering is stiff, the others are just software updates.
