06 s2k vs 09 370z

I would get the s2k for one reason. And that is: it is cheaper and I could use that extra money to mod it to my liking and track it. I you have the money to buy the 370z and track it, then more power to you.

The steering wheel must be connected to the steering rack by space mattress foam because I can't feel a damn bit of feedback.

How about the best of all worlds:
Miata with folding hard top + Supercharger + Cheaper insurance + Cheaper rubber/brakes = Win/win

That would actually be MORE expensive than either option because you forgot to account for the vagina implant surgery.
... and i have to agree.

Come on guys. How DARE YOU compare an s2000 to a 370z? You might as well be comparing an air craft carrier to a walnut. They have absolutely nothing in common except that they are both 2 door Japanese sports cars marketed to roughly the same demographic in roughly the same price range for roughly the same purpose.
I mean, come on. The s2000 will easily out handle a Formula car while the 370z is so heavy that it nearly flips going into a corner. If it wasn't for the weight of the 370z causing the wheels to dig into the asphalt, the car wouldn't be able to generate any g force. It was clearly only meant for drag racing.
Sure the V6 in it makes more power than the s2000's four cylinder, but I am willing to bet that the V6 engine weighs at least, AT LEAST, 5 times as much. In fact, the added weight of all of that extra hollow space in the combustion chambers probably counter-acts all of the extra horsepower anyway.
Let's not forget that the s2000 makes 120 hp per liter and the 370z has waaaaaaay more liters. If the 370z engine was as efficient as the f20c it would have... multiply 3.7 by 120... carry the 2... according to my calculator, it should have 88888888888.88 hp, but since it sucks so bad at making high hp per liter, which is the only goal in building any engine, it shouldn't even be allowed to be called a sports car.
Also, the s2000 is raw. Shit, I have to refrigerate my garage to keep it from spoiling, it is so raw. On the contrary, the 370z is a luxury car. The steering wheel must be connected to the steering rack by space mattress foam because I can't feel a damn bit of feedback.
The point is that the s2000 would easily lap the 370z five times on a 40-second autocross course.

For the price cuz I'm cheap I'd take the S. Keep in mind what you're losing with the base Z- cloth seats (arguable, but the Z's leather package looks quite good) and more importantly no LSD which can cost some duckets to add. You're much better off looking for a sport package (around here they're advertised at 30K), but I hear there's issues with that synchromatch thing. Anyway, you're now talking 10K+ difference.
If I could afford either, I'd take the Z but I'd wait a little longer (maybe another year, the 350z was pretty much the test bed for the 370 and the 3.7 engine has been out in the G).
The S is going to be the better dollar for dollar value in terms of fun, performance still really good too. People will say how much more reliable the S is compared to the Z, which is true when you're comparing it against the 03-04 Zs, but the S isn't trouble free either, again I'll point out you should search misfire, ticking diff, top holes, 2nd gear popping, valve tick, and a variety of other stuff in the under the hood section. Only real benefit imo about the s over the s is that it's a lot easier to work on, which I now measure by how easily accessed the spark plugs and belts are, cuz beyond that I take it in, lol. But the S is relatively reliable and low maitenance, parts aren't too bad either.
But yeah, as mentioned, test drive.

For "convertible people", that attribute pretty much trumps everything (within the sport/sporty category).

The 370Z looks great to me but I really, really enjoyed the convertible aspect of the S2000. A 370Z vert does nothing for me, so it's out of the question. The Boxster S is a blast to drive but it's also not as good looking as the S2000, in my opinion...which is a shame for a car that's quite a bit more expensive. At least the 370Z has some "Wow!" factor, y'know?
I'd have to say that if you are in a colder climate, I'd go 370Z all the way. If you have nice 'vert weather, I'd probably take the S2000.
