Which track? Mario Kart's Haunted Castle?
Let's be real. A 370Z will walk an S2000 stock or mildly modded on a road course and especially on a drag strip.

My NC MX-5 feels roughly as rigid, has a much roomier interior, and is 300-400 lbs. lighter. Even then, I wouldn't call the NC insanely light - I'll save that superlative for the Exige, Elise, Atom, etc. Stil, the NC was built w/ much greater obsession about weight (alum. front lower control arms, alum. trunk, no spare, weighing every part and shaving grams where they could, etc.)
OTOH, the Cayman S isn't that much heavier, and has much more storage capacity, more luxury, bigger/more powerful engine, bigger brakes, etc. Given it's weight dist., it actually doesn't feel much heavier than the S2000.
bgoetz, what exactly did Honda do aside from installing an aluminum hood to make the S2000 so insanely light?

Solstice base;

The GXP;
Horsepower:260 @ 5,300 rpm

No they are not lighter than the S2000.

The GXP is marginally heavier (+112 lbs) but it's potentially a lot more powerful (290 hp, 340 ft-lbs torque with factory performance ECU and map sensor upgrade) as well.
So, six of one and half a dozen of another.

I am being real. It all depends on who's driving and lets face it, none of us are Schumacher and amateur drivers will almost only certainly drive at their comfort level, doesn't mean that's the same as the car's potential.
Track newbies generally corner slower (have no idea what a RWD can do through a corner) but have no problem pinning the throttle on the straight sections. So, actual handling and cornering ability are used less than power by a newb.
In other words, a newb will generally be faster in a more powerful car, regardless of how poorly it handles. They'll usually only corner at their personal comfort level which is usually well below the capability of the car.

The Porsche Boxster S weights slightly more, but has two trunks, and is dead quiet.

Well, there aren't a lot of roadsters but the Solstice/Sky is similar in size and power output and roughly as rigid.

I really find myself to be realistic about cars, including the ones that I have and do own. I will openly admit that there are a good amount of cars in the same catagory, including the 370 Z that are HANDS DOWN faster than the S2k. I am just going to come out and say it though, IMO the S2k is the best designed roadster EVER .

I would have to disagree.

Sorry. I know you love your S, but numbers don't lie.

I was talking about the AP1 the rest of the world is still getting. It is lighter than the Pontiac and revs to 9k.
So it took ten years, a blower and then a reflash to beat the S?

If you want to go down that road, we can start bringing up cars from all over the planet, built within the last ten years, and see how that goes down.
Or we could keep it relevant, as I've done.
