Great price, but I still prefer the Prius for the usable rear hatch in which you could shove many more dead hookers than the trunk of the civic.

I think the Bush administration is offering a tax credit on those as well.

I think its funny that...

1. you get a vehicle that puts out low emissions and you get a tax break

or

2. you get a vehicle that weighs a shitload and probably puts out tons of emissions and you get a tax break

Is that strange to anyone else?

Reword part 2 to say "a vehicle used for hauling things for building stuff to sell to other people" and it will probably seem a little less strange to you

I think it's:

30/40 auto
30/38 MT

Well, maybe peeps want a bit of passing power in 5th gear.

Too bad they don't have a 6-speed MT so you can split 5th into perf or econ gears...

Haven't seen any perf tests, but either way it's not bad for 140hp engine IMO

I'm not in the market right now for a new car, but I can see a decision b/t an accord sedan MT and a Civic sedan MT. The Accord 166hp gets 26/34 MT or 24/34 AT.

The accord is larger, but you can get a civic for less..

The only thing I wish the civic had was maybe 2-3 more inches of headroom and I would get it over an accord anyday.

So who says you buy a hybrid to get a return on your investment? If you assume that, then we must be buying all cars because they make sense to the wallet. Guess that means I need to sell my s2000 as there are better investments for my money....

I'd buy one because I think the technology is cool and it's enjoyable to have....

But compared to my truck that gets 15mpg, I won't complain with 50..

I've been considering the automatic EX sedan and the CVT Hybrid since my wife is up for a new car soon. She is in outside sales and travels about 25k miles per year. With a tax credit of ~$2350 it makes the MSRP price <$500 which could easily be made up in gas savings in only a year or two. However the real delta in price will likely be more since the dealers will not be negotiating as much on the Hybrid, especially after the New Year when I suspect demand for the Hybrid will spike.
Personally I like the 5AT over the CVT and I also like the extra 30hp and the sunroof and wheels of the EX better. Royal Blue looks nice and is not offered in the Hybrid so at this point I'm leaning towards the EX. Any thoughts??

That would be true if doctors, lawyers, architects, and other professionals were unable to get this deduction. Unfortunately they do and we subsidize inefficiency and greenhouse gases through this stupid deduction.
