I, personally, have absolutely hated all BMWs released since the 7. They leave me totally cold. While better than other Bangle efforts, the styling on the new 3 is still much less than pretty. Far too fussy and awkward, IMO. The same can be said for the interior, which has lost any sense of sport, IMO. I don't care how well they drive, I would never consider a Bangle Bimmer. I think BMW has lost its way.

Also, I read last night that the E90 325 will actually be powered by a 3.0 liter six. As I recall, the motor puts out 210 hp and 185 tq. What the hell is that about? How can they be getting on 185 tq out of a 3.0 motor? That's pathetic in this day and age of variable valve timing, variable intake, etc., etc.

Back on topic...have you thought about the new 3.1 A4 (or A6)? I would also look at the M35 and GS300. And, the new C350 may be worth a look. From what I've read thus far, the C350 is quite an improvement over the old C320. Maybe a 3.6 CTS? Or, a 2005 330i with performance package. That car is an absolute classic (the last of the great Bimmers, IMO) and will never go out of style.

Depends on the curve doesn't it?

Anyone else catch the recent C&D sidebar regarding the superiority of BMW's vanos over Honda's VTEC.

i'd take mid-200 german HP over high-200 japanese HP any day of the week....and twice on sundays.....regardless of cost.

people who've driven/owned both know what i'm talking about.

I wonder if a chip and a few tweaks would bring the base 325 3.0L motor up to the power levels of the 330 3.0L motor since it's the same basic engine with a different intake manifold and computer tweaks??

probably not exactly that simple, but the 3.0L motor in the 325 will have lots of potential for the aftermarket companies since it is so detuned.

also, i'm not possitive on this but i think the 330 motor is able to squeeze all that power due to the valvetronic technology (basically bmw's version of vtec). i don't think valvetronic is used in the 325 motor.

Coming from a Jag S Type, you would love the '06 BMW 330i. The new styling of the 330i looks worse than the old model (IMO), but still looks a lot nicer than the Jag. When you are driving it, you would think you are driving a sports car comparing to the Jag. I would say that a good choice!
Interesting view. I think my S-Type looks much better than the new three series, largly because of the front end.

german cars are always going to be better cars then japan cars, no matter what. japan has great cars and cars that will out performe german cars but when u look at cars that are 4yrs old or older then u see the diff in the cars. japanese cars start to make noisies, radial, the quality starts to go down. German cars stay strong and there quality says good.
i personaly have a 1988 BMW 325i with 110,000 miles on it and the car still runs strong and performes better then cars that 17yrs newer. if it was a japanese car with the same miles i dont think it is going to have the same performance and quality as new.
please dont get me wrong
