maybe you should just get an e46 m3. that's if you can do with just 2 doors.

Car and Driver got 5.6 0-60 with 14.2 @ 98mph, about as fast as my ZHP and a E36 M3. Pretty good imporvement over the regular 330i.

Could be that test was with AT.

I've seen a few 330i or 330Ci tests with 5.6 or 5.8 sec.

Forget the magazines.. you have to do some back to back drives with a price in front of you to know which way to go. The last time I looked at a nicely equiped 330 it was gonna cost me over 40K to get it home, so I passed. This new one looks better but at least as expensive.

Nope, thems the times of the e36 M3. Back then those times were fairly quick, but todays standards they are almost entry level sports car times.

It's not going; it's been down the hill for years now and shows no signs of driving back up.
Untrue, the trend has been upwards for the past few years. Fact, over half of all warranty claims are electronic. The more electronic gadgets you have --- the more likely you are to have problems.

If you want a german marque that consistently does poorly in terms of reliability, look at Mercedes Benz. Even Audi and VW have managed to pull their heads from their asses in the past few years -- in relative terms at least.

I don't understand the G35 Vs BMW debate. There is no comparison. The BMW is the class leader and has been for years. The Infiniti while a nice car is a cheap pretender in comparison.

This part of the auto industry confuses me a bit. I agree that the electronics/controls/instrumentation has gotten very complex, but solid state electronics, lacking moving parts, should be inherently less prone to failure. I don't know what exactly is the cause of automotive electronics failures, but they just seem like they shouldn't be as prevalant. An engine can spin millions of cycles before breakage, yet the electronics are the first thing to go?? With as much modeling and exhaustive testing that you can do with electronics.

I've thought I would shy away from a Bimmer that was nearly out of warranty. Do you really have as much confidence in the build quality of a Bimmer, as compared to say, a Lexus, Acura, etc? Listening to these boards tells me to stay away from 3 year old German cars.
