no lie, from a 30 MPH roll, I walked away from a C5 with an intake and a 50 shot. we ran till the end of 3rd gear and I had about 5 cars.

So it looks like this? Stock vs. Stock... best case scenario is the Vette is only 1 second faster in the 1/4, worst case it sounds like it could be closer to 2 seconds. Since some of you have posted high 12's on convertible vettes and I have seen some mags get high 14's on the S2k.

Turbo instead of SC...I'll have to consider that. What do you think I'd have to spend to keep it close? Not really interested in "juice" but would consider a Turbo. Would love to keep the car looking stock so that he wouldn't know it was modded just to mess with him. Keeping up with him would be cool, don't have to beat him but it would be nice!

Still can't believe we can keep up with a C5 with by adding a Turbo. Don't get me wrong, I would love it, it just seems like a stretch. Those cars a very fast with gobs of tourqe from anywhere.

Add a Vortech S/C and a set of 4.44 gears and you should be able to beat a stock C5 convertible. But then again he can always spend one or two thousand dollars and you have no chance.

oh ya, If you get a properly running turbo, you will smoke a convertible and be right up there with a Z06.

But a turbo is a bit more involved than a S/C.

Interesting. By your sig., you own a Z06, so I guess you would have first hand knowledge of their performance. You also owned an S2k...

After spending x $'s on Turbo and related items, how much would I have spent? At that point, since you have a Z06, would you say I would have been better off just buying a C5 Vette Convertible? I really like the S2k and am not trying to turn it into something it is not but just asking for your personal opinion.

Or if you really want to go fast, you can get a used low mileage Z06 around $35,000 these days. Add another $5,000 in mods and you might very well be running 10 second quarter miles.

Thanks. Yeah, I'd probably opt for the SC as I am not into working on cars and don't want the hassles of service issues either.

Would consider the Z06 but it is not a convertible and to me, a convertible is a must to truly enjoy driving.

Just got back from a couple hundred mile run, I really love this car.

You'd get crushed and whipped silly. Even after you pump up your S's power-to-weight to match the vette's his wider tires will slip less. We really can't take on the last edition SS Camaros and they don't have all the output of the vette (though the engine is "almost" the same).

I really hope you're kidding about the rattling part. My car has been ABUSED for over 31k miles and there is nary a squeak or rattle. The days of the rattling Corvette basically ended with the C5. Quit being so stereotypical and naive.
