I'm definitely biased, but I still think I'd rather have GT-R. Nonetheless, it looks very nice, and there's always something to be said for German fit and finish. The motor seems nice with a very high redline.

Loving it.

Anyone think the 997.1 & .2 GT3 prices will drop dramatically once this thing is released?

I used to hope so as I was in the market for a 997.2 GT3. Not anymore. Maybe in a few years then hello 991 GT3!!! That thing is pretty awesome.

im not a fan of the PDK/DCT approach to driving but this would be the system I'd choose if I were to some day go that way. Finally a DCT system that is as versatile as the vehicle it is in. Here is hoping the GTR engineers go the same route. Im still not sold on the rear wheel steering though... early gen prelude anyone?

They may not have a manual they're happy with yet. The current 7 speed manual is derived from the 7 spd PDK, not built from the ground up. Maybe they're working on a new 7 speed manual. Or maybe they're just joining the trend, since the PDK is usually about .2 seconds faster 0-60 than the manual in each of the 991 trims.

That thing has got to be a hoot to drive.

Of course you'd like it... it only comes in automatic

Just kidding, man.
No problem. I'll gladly drive either type of transmission as long as it's well executed. And I'd expect this car to be pretty well sorted out.

i think i agree with you.
i liked gt-3 because it was one of those remaining "true driver's car".
with pdk being the only option and all i just can't find a reason not to choose gt-r over the new gt3 anymore.
gt-r is faster and quicker both on the street and track, and more affordable.

Im sure this car will be amazing but it really pisses me off that porsche went with the PDK. Ive never thought of the GT3 as the 911 where speed and lap times are top priority, that was always the territory of the turbo/gt2 etc. To take out the manual transmission really hurts what I liked about the GT3 so much.

I get that paddles are faster but the GT3 was supposed to be more about fun and involvement. I really hope porsche doesnt go the way of ferrari and stop offering a third pedal in 911s for the sake of speed and lap times that very few will every be able to achieve or even try for. Technology in cars is great but its getting a little out of hand in my opinion.

Sorry, just a minor detail with the 911 that has been getting on my nerves the last few 'new' models.
Please enlighten us with why Porsche should change the instrument panel from it's already perfect, and timeless, layout/design?

What's wrong with it? It's the traditional 5 stack panel like all 911s before it. A signature just like the rear hump. I have absolutely no problems with it. Better than the trendy digital screens mimicking the tach/speedo.

Exactly. People looking for gimmicky BS can go buy something else.
