The Shell refinery in Norco, LA shipped high sulfur gas to its stations in the South Louisiana area. Do not buy Shell or Texaco gas until the situation is corrected. Here

"The damage done by the bad gasoline could cause some drivers to run out of gas unexpectedly. Also, car owners may have to replace their fuel gauges

Most of this gas went to south fla. The gauge on our bmw is wrecked, stuck on full. Luckily we always use AMEX for double-points at gas stations; we have the record on our statement, with the business name, address, and time of transaction. Without that (proof that shell/texaco gas messed up your gauge), they probably won't pay.
We called and opened a claim, and they said an insurance agent would be contacting us.
