Actually they are punking him. He's out tens of thousands of dollars,
(probably more) and the deeper he gets, the more dirt they get on him. He
can't back out now even though he knows it's nonsense..

In the Gnostic texts--I'm pretty sure it was the Gospel of Mary Magdalana--it describes Jesus decending from space and appearing before Mary. It doesn't get discussed much because, well, Mary was a woman. Common theme here, eh? It's always about space aliens.

Scientology is... interesting. There are quotes from L. Ron Hubbard that corroborate that he made it up (Scientology) for profit, but are unverified. If you look at his sci fi writings and the basis for Scientology, there do seem to be similarities.
They also hold to what may seem to be amusing positions, but I agree it's dangerous. One of my friends was clinically depressed and was told that the problem was just in her head, and that she could work it out without meds, which were dangerous (the person saying this wasn't a scientologist, but they hold similar positions). She felt bad that she could solve the problem on her own, and killed herself.

Ahh nice. You ran into Anonymous members.
I can't say I'm a member of "Anonymous", but I fully support their movement against Scientology.
Scientology, as an organization, NEEDS to be shut down... Don't want to get further into the rant, I'm sure if you're interested you can research on your own.

I did a movie that was written, produced (funded) and directed by these guys.
The movie had (as far as I can tell) nothing to do with Scientology as far as content goes but all my bosses were members.
They had me take a 'personality test' before hiring me, and handed out Scientology DVDs and literature at the wrap party.
We even filmed at the Scientology center in Hollywood which was...educational. We were shadowed by members (you'd turn around and there would be someone RIGHT BEHIND YOU) and there were all kinds of strange goings on.
Of course, in fairness, had we filmed at a Buddhist Temple or the Vatican I'm sure it would have been a similar vibe.
Nice bunch of people...
