My rear was coming out in 2nd. If my rear didn't come out, 2nd would be faster. Once the setup is "fixed", I should be going back to 2nd, but only for time-attack laps.
I don't like the 2-3 upshift because that shift is the one that is brewing into a potential problem, so I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible.
Did you want me to take a look at your calibration? You're running a TP right?

My rears pretty planted in second, should I continue to use it then for time attack laps or should I just start getting used to taking it in 3? 3 "feels" right, but second is almost always putting me at a higher speed in the chicane. Im not shifting to 5th for the chicane though, don't want to risk it yet, lol.

Actually I am curious to see what Alex's thoughts are. He's taking it in third too so I am thinking maybe using second is a bad idea. I initially used third all day and switched to second in the later half of the day.
And yeah I need a datalogger =[ But first a job

Mike Tsay uses 3rd on a AP1... (softer coils)
Jim uses 2nd (softer coils)
Joel uses 2nd on a AP2. (stiffer coils)
I think ultimately it comes down to preferences and what your setup allows.

Mike...Jims (mine too) gears are the same as AP1 cars, its just our top speeds in "gear" are shorter due to rev limit.
FWIW, my setup is not ideal for SOW due to the taller gears vs AP2. If my car was lighter, it works but I have a hard time using higher gears and my car pushes HARD using 3rd gear at the bowl but I do think I carry more speed and 2nd gear would slow me down more.....AP2s (similar setups) shoud use 3rd for sure....If you check the battle I had with Alex on the last SOW of 2010, his AP2 gearing helped out nicely and you can see how he pulls on me coming out of the tighter turns.
Looks like you guys had fun and cant wait to get back on the track!

Yeah you too Brad! I was diggin your Traklites! They looked real nice.
I'm glad my advice could help. 1.5 seconds is a lot!
What was your time and were you in the SS class? I'm not sure where the results are, or who is doing the write up...
Mike: I just remembered. Don't you have a plaque for me from that track day in January haha?? I forgot about that!

I think i ended up with a 1:29.0 which i was pleased with. I had run in the track tuned class because i was running a test pipe, next time ill throw the cat back on so i can run street class.
