Worth using a test pipe and AEM V2 here in So Cal?
So I have an aftermarket single exhaust and CAI installed now. I still need headers too. But I do have a Berke test pipe in my closet. I really want to install it but I hear the fines here in So Cal can be pretty steep if Im caught using one. Do cops often look under our cars here in So Cal too see if we are using a cat or not if I get pulled over? What are the fines for getting caught by a cop anyways? I already have hookups for smog checks so Im not worried about that part, just the cop! So is it worth using this? I hear it helps quite a bit for the price. Also, is it possible to use the heat shield around the cat and put it around the test pipe so its hidden and looks like a cat?

there was a big thread about this in car talk or somewhere, go search
i just put mine in last month, i love it. the power and sound are great. it does stink a bit though..
my car is so lowered there is no way you can look under the car, so i am unsure how they could check for it, unless they made me whip out a jack

lets say I get caught using a test pipe by a cop, he would give me whats called a "fix it ticket" right? My buddy lives nextdoor to a Sheriff in Irvine and my buddy said he can hook me up and have the Sheriff/cop take off fix it tickets only. Is this possible for cops to do? Or is my buddy probably full of shit? But my buddy did say that the cop cannot take off moving violation tickets/speeding tickets since those have to go to the court.

For maxiumum exhaust flow and power gain, the stock catalytic converter must be replaced with a free flowing test pipe. T1R offers the Racing Converter, a high flowing non-resonated test pipe, for this purpose only. It is a fully plug and play unit; it is a direct fit replacement and comes with all the necessary sensor holes. When installed in conjuction with header and exhaust, a 3-5whp gain can be expected. This specific system is designed so that you can reinstall the stock catalytic convertor heatshield and regain the stock cat-like look. Like all T1R exhaust products, the Racing Converter is made from SUS304 aircraft grade stainless steel and features TIG welded construction. Recommended for track and race use only.
