Schools need to revisit their curriculum and possibly add courses on how to be fiscally responsible.
Kids nowadays working at Mc D's but rocking a $200 LRG hoodie Doesn't make sense to me.
Then most likely they grow into adult hood and have the same money habits and start living from check to check until they hit rock bottom

People are just spoiled. You can raise a family on 75k (that's about 3600 a month after tax and 10% 401k) a year in LA. You just can't have all the consumer goods we have become accustomed too. Go back to 1960 and see how people lived and take that today and you could easily live on 75k and have two kids. You couldn't live in Santa Monica but you could live in a reasonable part of LA. Just because there are ipods, $200 jeans, etc doesn't mean you have to have them or have a right to have them. It's all about priorities.

In short, california is a hard place to live, but I do agree, we tend to Shop way too much, and like to spoil ourselves in fake money (creditcard)

Back in 1960, burgers were 10 cents, houses were under 100k and there was a lack of electronic toys as compared to today =]
I don't need my ipod or drive an s2k. But it sure is nice =D
