Let's not act like illegals who cost this country billions annually do not deserve a refund for their federal crimes.
Last time you made an argument against illegals you made it very clear that you had something against Mexicans. I hope you put your foot in your mouth again. This time you'll get banned for sure. I can name 7 (seven) s2ki members that were offended by your comments so please be careful.

On Topic: Although I don't qualify for this rebate, it's good to hear that gov't officials are actually doing something to stimulate the economy. Although many of us are mad at the fact that we aren't getting more/any money, it definitely gives a big boost to the mentality of the American consumer. This is reflective in the stock market as investor confidence helped the indices recover after scary lows.

Consider this quote as the mentality employed by our officials:
"For any given pot of money, the more you target the lower-income, credit-constrained households, the bigger the bang for your buck." This was said by Congressional Budget Office Director Peter Orszag in a Senate testimony.

It makes sense that as part of the proposed stimulus package, giving these $$$ handouts will help those most in need. It will not only benefit the US consumers' pocket but more importantly, the sentiment towards an improving economy.

This is only the beginning and the more help we get, the sooner this economy will turn around.

You see you guys. This legislation will surely help a lot of us. When going to college or living paycheck to paycheck, every penny counts.

holy sh#$ don't tell my wife!!!! she's gonna be pissed being mexican and all!!!

I sure do have a hatred for her and her kick @$$ family!
While shes beside me she said I should mention that the only thing offensive is that I mention illegals and you only connect them with Mexicans. Her being legal I can see that as offensive. I can count 3...(three) who were offended at your comments and I'm sure if I showed the early convo you refer to I could find a few more.

On topic.

This cut is too small to really do anything with and too big for the poor people to just blow, rather then pay off a credit card or some other secured/unsecured debt.

I see it being only effective in a minor way but we'll just have to see.

[QUOTE=Back-cracker,Jan 24 2008, 03:03 PM]Those who earn up to $75,000 individually or up to $150,000 as a couple will be eligible for the payments, said Republican and Democratic sources familiar with the tentative deal.

However, the point is to create spending money for people to instantly waste essentially. Rich people spend money too, and despite what the point is.

Is it fair to just judge someone doing financially well and say "you don't deserve this refund" ?

just another outlook on it.

I agree, but giving an affluent household $600 bucks isn't going to influence their spending habits. Whereas those who are poorer might have a greater chance of spending it. Sure not all are going to spend it, but at least a portion will.

I agree there, and that was my first thought, but then I also thought to myself "the poor like me... probably have a credit card to pay down, while BC might just use it for a bucket seat, (assuming a more expensive one was on sale for the 600 dollar price hahaha)"

Idk I think in general though what you're saying is correct. If the aim is simply to give a quick boost, the middle class will give the best returns.
