Excellent and you hit it right on the nail! Stop the wars and get a chance to manage our bankruptcies! (you mentioned the SDN, i haven't heard that in decades )

I'm from the Old Continent and hoping this society will not reach the impasse most of the Europeans country find themselves in...
It makes sense then perhaps, why you are better versed in history. Sadly, though, it seems that we are well on our way. And like the Titanic, we have already hit the iceberg, and yet some people believe that we are "unsinkable." What most people don't realize is that broke countries don't start wars, and since we can't seem to control the government that is supposed to be subservient the demands of its people regarding the end of foreign wars, then the only thing that we can control is the funding of it. Should the nation wake up and stop demanding so much in services from the government, then correspondingly can it clamor for significantly less in taxes to be imposed upon us, and to have that again become the case.

THANK YOU!

Liberal media says we're not taxed. Sure I'll believe it.

I'll give it a more thorough read to be fair though.

If it is correct, let's continue to lower it. 1950's taxes are still ridiculously too high.

Didn't Ben Franklin say that a nation taxed at more than 10% total was under "heavy tax"? Consider all the taxes "fees" we pay in total ontop of federal/state/income taxes etc, we're still out there in crazy land either way.

I hate to break it to you... but I don't think they will ever go to zero again.

Yea, try convincing a bunch of bureaucrats they're not needed. Good luck with that.

If we can at least get federal income taxes to a flat tax with no more deductions and loopholes for anyone or any corporation, that's a start.

No, it's called getting everyone out of there and starting over. If we stop bitching as a whole, and instead began VOTING as a whole, then things will change. The problem is too much bitching and too little voting.

The study was conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

This organization "defines itself as a forum of countries committed to democracy and the market economy, providing a setting to compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practices, and co-ordinate domestic and international policies. Its mandate covers economic, environmental, and social issues. It acts by peer pressure to improve policy and implement "soft law"—non-binding instruments that can occasionally lead to binding treaties. In this work, the OECD cooperates with businesses, trade unions and other representatives of civil society. Collaboration at the OECD regarding taxation, for example, has fostered the growth of a global web of bilateral tax treaties."

Pretty balanced, I would say, even leaning toward conservative ideals.

See, we can agree on some things.
