Who Fabricates? Who Pays?

Who Fabricates? Who Pays?
After being part of the street (racing), hot-rod (racing), muscle car (racing), CART (racing) world for a long enough period of time, I've been able to clearly distinguish between two types of automotive enthusiasts. Those who learn how to fabricate and assemble their own rigs, and those who pay.
True to the sport, true to the life, understanding of the adrenaline, there is a small percentage of builders and fabricators out there that actually devise their own builds. They have the tenacity overcome the adversity of "bolt-on parts" not bolting on. They take the time and effort to learn the craftsmanship involved in making a peice of machinery perfect.
It's easy to understand that many people simply want to pay for little hop-ups, or have too little time to actually build their own vehicles, these cases are easily glanced upon and fly under the radar. But on the flip side of this conservatism there exists an ostentatious breed which pays for everything and builds nothing. They become braggarts for their works of art, when in fact they simply threw money at someone and said "I want this."
So tell us, which personification do you embody?

I do a little of both, but I understand my limits and lack of skills.... Basically if its easy I do it, if not I pay or seek help from someone and help them while I learn from what they are doing.
Unfortunately theres also times were I try it and wish I paid

When I was younger during my HS and college days I did all my own installs and everything because it was nice since I would be able to use the schools lift and everything.
Now, I just throws money at it lol. I dont have the time to learn mess around and figure it out like I use to. Figure out what I want and I buy and have it installed haha.

I prefer to do it myself. Start with a good product, and then mess it up. Am a little bit hampered by a lack of tools now. Anyone in my area have a lathe and mill that I can use? I was a certified machinist a while back, just don't have a place for the equipment.
