I'm not really sure what to make of this $600 dollar government hand out.
Is just a cheap gimmick to make the "American people" feel better during an election year.
Is is a half hearted attempt at economic stimulation? If so, why bother. If you really wanted to stimulate the economy for the long term as in for the next 10 to 20 years at least. Money would have been better spent on infrastructure: roads, bridges, airports, high speed trains, faster telecommunication systems..ect. Improving the flow of goods and services would provide a much longer stimulation to our economy that a $600 feel good check. I don't think there has been a major push in infrastructure from the federal government since FDR was president.
Granted yes, receiving $600 of my tax dollars back is nice, but I don't see how simply throwing money at a problem is supposed to solve anything.
Does the government really think that it can stop the business cycle? The expansion and contraction is going to happen whether those in Washington like it or not.
I don't think people should be looking at this from a pro/anti Bush angle.
It really doesn't matter. You're getting sent a check whether you like or hate Bush (assuming you qualify). When it shows up you should just cash / deposit it. The federal government has already budgeted for this disbursement. By not using it you're not accomplishing anything. I guarantee you're not sending them a message.
Whatever money is not used will just end up in some other budget after a few key strokes on a computer in government accounting office.
If you really feel strongly against against taking the money, cash it anyways and then donate the money to a charity; March of Dimes, United Way, a local food bank, a university, whatever. If you're not going to use it, give it to a group that can since most of these organizations usually struggle for donations during bad economic times.

SO by taking it you do believe he is doing the right thing?
If you are antibush, you should reject everything he does.

No rebate in my household.
Every president we have had has screwed the nation over in way or another.
Here's a hint Clinton-cocaine-prison systems. Bush has bankrupted this nation. But he was smart enough to buy into the largest fresh water aquifer in the world. Oil and water smart guy.
All three running for office are equal morons. None are qualified to lead.
The housing market hasn't even begun to tank. More pain there. Horde your pennies kids it's gonna get much uglier. Glad I'm retired, job outlook and other things are going to make this a interesting next few years.

You got it Mike. Just remember this, The Dems have been in power for two years and look where we are at. Higher gas prices, possible recession, home crisses taxing fast foods, and Starbucks sales down. It only took two years and now they want a president to help them?
Bush and YOUR Congress turned a record surplus into a record deficit.
Remember THAT
