Where's Electric Cars?

Not Saturn.....GM's EV1.
You could only lease one (and only "selected" people at that) and when the lease ran out, they confiscated them and cruched them.
You should check out "Who Killed the Electric Car". I could go on, I used to work on EV's at our company (Aerovironment). I was on assignment in Detroit for a short time working on some R&D stuff at GM. Even got to drive a few on the test track.
Now GM is talking about producing a "plug in" hybrid (more biased to the battery system) that you charge at night, with a small IC engine (diesel) to extend battery range, compared to the Prius which has a very small battery, and is only recharged from the IC engine.
If you look at "end to end efficency", an electric car is the only way to go. H2 is BS.
If I could, I'd love to have a Tesla.......Just need way more $$$$

The last thing I did for Jacobs Engineering before starting Athanor Environmental Services was manage the environmental inpact report on the South Coast Air Quality Management District's proposed Rule 1066, which would have required all corporate fleets to convert a percentage of their vehicles to alternate fuels, including electric. You should have seen the oil and auto companies rise up to fight this with their attorneys and so called unbiased experts. I had a senior Chevron management type tell me off the record that Chevron would spend any amount of money to defeat this rule. I heard expert witness testimony that electric cars would never work and would be prohibitively expensive and unreliable. Auto batteries would explode. Methanol would make people go blind. And this was back in 1989.

What's better, a plug-in hybrid, or a hybrid like the Prius? I'm still trying to wrap my head around just how good-for-the-environment it really is....
