Default where to go to replace 2nd gear synchro

Can anyone recommend where i should take my car to have a 2nd gear synchro replaced?

I recently went to norm reeves in huntington for a taillight recall and they ended up telling me to come in so they could service it only to find out they dont have the part, come back later have them replace the reflectors only to go home and have my left taillight bulb burn out, then finally went back and had to wait 4 hours for them to fix something that takes 15 minutes. i hate dealers..

sooo if anyone could tell me where i should go to replace a worn out 2nd gear synchro that would be great

whoah whoah...who was your service advisor? and what kind of car do you have? your avatar doesnt say you have an s2000 but i will assume you have 2000-2001 because of the taillight recall...ive always received superb service from norm reeves in hb. i either go to them or honda world in westmintster down beach blvd. PLENTY of s2ki members will vouch for honda world. just make sure you ask for lito, chris or andy.

Syncos are expensive to repair so your best bet is to find an AP1 or AP2 tranny for sale here.

i was thinking about just buying a used ap1 tranny and dropping it in too rather than having a dealer tear mine open and replace the synchros

do you have an estimate on how much a dealer would charge me to remove and install a tranny?

thanks for the help

be very careful about getting used diff or trans, alot of scam artist and crook out there

selling you broken part. it will be too late to get your money back after you take off

your broken trans and replace it with another broken trans. and most of the time the

owner will give you crappy answer like "i purchased it from a friend's friend's friend so i

should wash myself clean of responsibility" type of crap

i don't think honda sell just the syncro, i think they are part/mated with the gear shaft=more moola

so honda can't open the trans up and just replace the synchro itself?

The synchro actually comes as a set which includes a new second gear, synchro rings and sleeve. Chances are, there are gonna be other parts to be replaced but you won't know what else is failing until the trans is torn down.

Nice, you know it's hard to believe but when Barbara first started working there as a cashier, about 3 years ago, she was pretty hot.
