Default Where to buy a gun?

I am going to buy my first gun and I duno where to acutally buy.

I have been shooting my uncle's .22 and .09 mm for the last 5 years at my local range.

I have been shooting my boss's .45 @ the range for the last 5 months.

I am buying this gun for the purpose of home protection. I am getting married in november and i would like to have a gun @ my new home.

Can anyone suggest where to buy and whats a good gun for home protection purposes. I think a .09 or a .22 is too small. I was thinking either a .4 or a .45?

Input? Greg I know your out there.

For home protection, get a dog. Or a shotgun.

How does your fiancé feel about a gun in the new house? I'd make sure she's comfortable with it, and even take a beginner's shooting class together.

PS- it's 9mm, not .09mm.

PPS- your city would help people point you to local gun stores.

PPPS- if you're looking for a hardtop, see gunshow.

How much you looking to spend? These are a bit more pricey than many other guns but they are hard to beat. The p229 .357 sig is one of the best in-house choices there is, used by many law enforcement agencies
