Go with either of the above. Only buy from breeder if you don't go the local animal shelter. Please do not go to a "pet store" to purchase a dog as it supports puppy mills.

I'd definitely prefer to "rescue" a dog from a shelter above all else, but not if it's going to be a little punk.
seriously tho.. we love dogs, but we hate angry dogs (tho owners are mostly to blame)... after volunteering at a kill-shelter (in Chicago), I realized majority of abandoned dogs just need TLC. they need attention, they need a home/love/food/exercise, just a lil person..

I actually have visited the Glendale and Pasadena Animal Shelters. They don't have any half-decent looking dogs. I think Pasadena had one, but it was an angry little fellow.

as for the looks, a bath goes a long way on a pound dog

call up mike vic.. im sure he has some he may want to get rid of..
I'd prefer a dog that can't kick my ass.
... Though I guess by Vick's standards, they would be weak...

there's a few of those mean dudes at the covina pound, they are much bigger
than the average pound.
yeah, don't get it at the store, simply knowing there's much needed home for the
dog in the pound.
the own process only cost like 35 bucks, they deworm the pet and free "altering"
than the average pound.

Oh another question:
This is actually for a good friend, but she already has 5 dogs. By city rules, I believe she's not allowed to have more than 3 without having a special permit. Will they actually end up checking up on all of that if I go through the animal shelter?
