NY is different then CA..

In NY it is the law that slower traffic MUST drive to the right and you may only pass on the left

CA you can pass on either left or right and the slower traffic to the right is pretty much negated due to that.
Not entirely true. On the 60 between Riverside and and the 10 there are signs everywhere that say slow traffic keep right. Hardly anybody follows these things.

Anyway I think BMW drivers are more douchy than the average. It's a selection bias thing. Most pompous folk would believe there is such a thing as an "ultimate driving machine." In reality every car has its series of tradeoffs in its design but don't try to argue that to E46 M3 owners. BMW targets these rare assholes in their advertising, it therefore follows that these are the type that buy BMW more often.

Right, I didnt say that there arent signs.. i said that because you can pass on either the left or the right in california.. it pretty much negates the the slower traffic on the right rule... because obviously if you passing on the right... you are not the slower traffic.

I don't think it's just BMW drivers, I think it's a lot of socal drivers in general. I'm not saying everyone in socal drives crazy but a lot of people do. I've seen any type of car drive crazy, luxury car, economy car, truck, you name it. If you see a car coming up fast, just switch lanes real quick. If you can't and the guys an asshole then I guess just deal with it. It does piss me off when they flash me tho...damn crazy drivers...

But what I'm getting at is that doesn't it make far more sense to have it work like it does in NY or the autobahn?

Yes. After driving in Europe it frustrates me beyond belief.

California drivers are just morons.
