Gyu-Kaku Very good place. I've only been to the one in Beverly Hills.

if you love prime rib, summit house in fullerton.

omg, you will die. make sure you get creamed corn! complements the prime rib perfectly.

Marrekesh , I'd always take out-of-towners to the one in Sacramento (when I was working there). Quite a fun experience. I also recommend Ethiopian cuisine.

For something innovative, I recommend that you think along the lines of the chef's menu of whatever frou-frou chi-chi restaurant that's well-respected. Personally, I'm a fan of Spago. It is around an 11-course meal based on the chef's whims of that day. Each course is paired with an appropriate beverage (from sake, to wine, to ports, etc.). It'll be a 5-6 hour experience.

There are also a number of amazing sushi houses if you want to have a premium sushi-dining experience. There's one where the chef grows and cultivates his own soy bean crop to make his own tofu... that's hard core. And another... uses gold flakes in his dishes. Served by the head chef, it's all you can eat at $250/person:
