Default What's the best way to Grand Canyon from LA?

What's the best way to Grand Canyon from LA? Going to south rim in late February on a Friday. What's the fastest way? Maybe I should worry about snow along some routes? I may take the AWD van depending on conditions and/or who's going. But the S would be faster.

Thanks, Doug

I would say 15N to the 40E and the various highways you need to take from there.

I was thinking maybe cut thru Joshua Tree / Amboy to the 40 to avoid traffic on the 15 to Vegas.

That would probably be a more interesting drive, but I'm doubtful it would actually be faster, unless there is some unusually heavy traffic going to Vegas.

It can be faster if there's an accident anywhere before the 40 splits off from the 15.

It doesn't matter what route you take, you'll still need to worry about snow in AZ. When I drove home early last Feb I was in snow from the south rim to about Seligman, AZ. When I was there over New Years there was no snow anywhere.

Be careful on the 40 in AZ. the trooper who pulled us over told us that anything over 85 is criminal instead of an infraction.
